People are Talking About Hey Diddle Diddle!

From Nada, Michael & baby Naomi:

My husband and I received your wonderful bag of goodies on June 1st, the day after our daughter was born. We immediately looked through the books and merely glanced at the CD. We read the stories to our daughter, but completely forgot about the CD for days.

About a week after she was born, we had to take a long drive, and my husband remembered the CD. He grabbed it and we tossed it in our CD player in the car.

I must admit, we didn't expect to like it. We had received other baby CDs and they just weren't something we enjoyed. But both of us were floored at how excellent the music and songs were put together. We were even more surprised when we discovered it was entirely local artists. My parents, who love the Songwriter's Circles and Stanfests, knew all but one artist on the compilation. We were especially tickled with "Monsters Love Banana Bread" by George Canyon. We were also impressed with the diversity of cultural instruments and languages involved. I especially enjoyed the lullaby sung in the native dialect.

It was a delightful hidden gem amongst other jewels we discovered in our little yellow bag. Our daughter will get much enjoyment from these gifts, as will any subsequent siblings that might come along. Thank you very much for such a fun start to a love of reading and music.

From a new grandmother:

I wanted to tell you: This CD is exquisite: tender and soothing, filled with love and joy and promises of wonderful things to come --- a cradle of song ....small hymns of hope, like a little five year old told me once --- its not called a “lullaby” -- if it's a lullaby for someone you love it's a “love-a-bye”! There are many “love-a-byes” on this CD.

From a new dad:

In October, my daughter Fallon came into this world. As a new father, I found myself ill-prepared for the wonders my wife and I would encounter. The many things you learn as you go, came easier with advice, experience and some tools to deal with situations. One ‘tool’ that was a great help is your CD, Hey Diddle Diddle!

This collection of beautiful songs has complimented many father-daughter experiences. It started as something we listened to when I was cooking or cleaning, with Fallon giggling and cooing along. It was a great way for me to learn the words to new songs as well as classic nursery rhymes.

Eventually, it evolved into a way to help her smile, even when she was not happy. A couple of lines of ‘Monsters Love Banana Bread’ and she will refocus and start to smile. This comes in very handy at the doctor’s office, posing for pictures or when she is having a cry. Recently, we had an accident which required a few trips to the hospital and a lot of extra singing, so hats off to the people that created and dispensed this cd. We not only enjoy the recordings of these incredibly talented artists but it has enriched our lives and has helped to make me a better parent!
